Kick-off Symposium was held on July 29.
On July 29, the kick-off symposium of “Materials Science of Meso-Hierarchy” was held at Chiba University. Following an overview of the project by Prof. Shiki Yagai, the representatives of each project team explained the details of their research projects and their expectations for the open call for proposals. In his special lecture, Prof. Makoto Fujita (Distinguished Professor of The University of Tokyo), who serves as an advisor to the project, talked about his many years of contributions to coordination self-assembly and his passion for the research. In the poster session held in the latter half of the symposium, active discussions among researchers of all fields and ages took place. The event quickly became an opportunity to embody the goal set forth by Prof. Yagai in his overview: “Research subjects are about hierarchy, but discussions no hierarchy!”
More than 130 participants came to the event, indicating the high expectations for this field. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the advisors and all the participants.
